As the role of Captain, Martin oversees all aspects of your stay, making it a smooth, enjoyable and safe trip. From the very beginning he will be organising the itinerary with you and whilst keeping a keen eye on all departments he will be your guiding hand throughout your time on board and will be your first point of contact.

Martin grew up in the small coastal town of Hermanus, famous for its whales and shark cage diving. During his childhood he was constantly involved with the sea, and when he wasn’t surfing, he was fishing and water-skiing. He started his career in yachting in 2002 aged 19, his first job taking him across the Atlantic to the Caribbean for the winter season and then back to the Mediterranean for the summer. It is safe to say his passion for the industry was born and he had found his career path. In the last twenty years Martin has circumnavigated the world twice and been to some incredible and remote places including Alaska, the Pacific and Northern Europe and has acquired a broad range of skills and knowledge of the ocean. During his time on board various yachts, he gradually made his way up the ranks and completed his Master 3000 in June of 2020. Martin joined Marina Wonder in April of 2021 and spent his first season onboard as Chief Mate, learning the ropes and beginning a hand over with the previous Captain.

In his spare time Martin likes to restore classic cars, he travels extensively and enjoys the outdoor pursuits such as mountain biking, hiking and camping. Martin is a friendly, outgoing person, making him a very approachable Captain who will strive to exceed your trips expectations and ensure for an unforgettable stay on board.
